Greystead Church is an absolutely unique and beautiful place to stay. The roomy lounge with the searing arched window frames and stained glass windows, along with the three sofas and log burner is such a comfortable room to relax in. There was plenty of wood provided to allow a few days worth of fires! The kitchen on the upper floor is extremely spacious, with ample surfaces and all the ammenities needed for an extended stay, plus the two secluded lounging areas in the two back corners are wonderful for some quiet time. The bell tower, with the metal spiral staircase leading you up two levels to the cosy room at the top is an exciting area to chill out in, and enjoy the daytime views, or the night sky. Each of the four bedrooms (3 doubles and 1 twin) were spacious, with The Vestry (that also has a door that opens into the Graveyard) being the most unique bedroom of them all. The Wifi was solid, which was also useful because the phone signal in that area was unreliable, and contact with Sam was most helpful, as well as a personal call from the owners to check that the minor questions I had were promptly resolved. The location itself is great, with a 20 minute drive to most things in Kielder, including our night at the Observatory, and visit to the Birds of Prey. Easy access to the locations on Hadrians Wall, and also only 1.5 hours to Lindisfarne/Holy Island and the stunning Bamburgh Castle, as well as Dunstanburgh and Warkworth castles.
